Endodontics

Tackle the enemy of the tooth by the root

Our dental goal is to preserve your natural tooth structure for as long as possible. If there is a chance of saving damaged teeth, we will do everything we can to do so. That is why root canal treatment is one of our practice focuses. The root canal system of a tooth can be compared to a tree root with many fine branches. Infections or injuries can cause the inner tissue of the tooth (called the “pulp”) to become infected or destroyed. Root canal treatment allows us to save teeth that would otherwise have to be removed. During the treatment, infected or destroyed tissue is first removed from the inside of the tooth using a surgical microscope and then replaced with a special material (“gutta-percha”). Root canal treatments can be complex and place high demands on the dentist and his technical equipment. Successful root canal treatments preserve the tooth in the long term; the treatment is usually painless.

Periodontology

So that your teeth last a long time

Periodontology is the study of the periodontium, which consists of the gums, the root cementum, the periodontal membrane and the tooth socket. Accordingly, periodontics includes the prevention, treatment and aftercare of diseases of the periodontium. In addition to tooth decay, periodontal disease with gum recession is the most common cause of tooth loss. Periodontitis, also known as periodontal disease, begins with a painless, chronic inflammation of the gums. This is caused by bacteria that form dangerous plaque. In addition, genetic factors, heavy smoking or stress can also promote its development. Regardless of age, periodontitis can occur on one or more teeth at the same time. If the disease is not stopped, periodontitis leads to bone loss and tooth loss. The gentle treatment removes the biofilm and preserves the gums - the damaged bone substance regenerates. Even if the loss of bone tissue has been diagnosed, it can be stopped with gentle ultrasound treatment.

Implantology

The successful path to contemporary dentures

If you have lost one or more teeth, implantology today offers the most modern and aesthetically demanding way to complete your teeth again. There are many reasons for tooth loss, and implantology offers flexible and gentle solutions. Implants can be used to close individual teeth as well as larger tooth gaps - directly after tooth extraction as an immediate implant or even if a tooth has been lost for a long time. The implants are inserted on an outpatient basis in our practice and under local anesthesia in a minimally invasive and painless manner, taking into account the maxims of biologic dentistry.

The implant is an artificial tooth root that is used as a secure foundation for anchoring bridges, crowns and/or prostheses. After a short healing phase, the implant forms a stable basis for new teeth. Teeth attached to implants look like your own because their color and shape are adapted to the tooth environment and fit evenly into the existing teeth.

Biologic Dentistry

Die Zelle als Basis

We are members and masters of the Global Academy of Biologic Dentistry (www.GABD.org). The aim of the academy is to promote the teaching of biological wound healing principles and to further develop treatment methods and biological products.

But what is meant by biological dentistry? This includes any type of treatment of the oral cavity that is carried out according to the rules of human biology.

The focus of biological dentistry is to incorporate the natural vascular and cellular wound healing principles into your healing process. The patient's own tissue contains all the genetic information needed for biological repair - you just have to use it! Simple, minimally invasive procedures that follow these rules lead to the best long-term results.

Professional cleaning
Good oral hygiene and regular removal of plaque and tartar at the dentist is the biological way to a natural and stable environment in your mouth.

Non-surgical periodontal treatment
If you have developed gingivitis or periodontitis, this can in most cases be treated using an ultrasound device in a minimally invasive procedure. Nowadays we can avoid surgery in many cases. This is important for patients because this is a painless treatment method that we can often even perform without anesthesia.

Exposed tooth necks
Exposed root surfaces can cause sensitivity and/or aesthetic discomfort in some cases. We can solve this problem biologically in a gentle way by covering the necks of the teeth with adjacent tissue: the body's own tissue enables the best regeneration.

Dental implantology
If one or more teeth are missing, an implant is often the best solution. It is the biological option for replacing missing teeth because no healthy neighboring teeth need to be ground down. A one-piece biological implant is a copy of a natural tooth. It enables perfect integration of bone and soft tissue. You will receive such an implant, inserted in a biologically correct way, during a quick and painless treatment. Through this biological process you can then immediately return to your normal life. Long-term evidence-based research has shown this biological concept to be extremely successful.

Sinus lift when there is little bone available
The best example of the advantages of biological treatment methods is the internal sinus lift: In the back area of the upper jaw there is often a lack of bone through the maxillary sinus. In the past, such cases required complex and painful surgeries involving bone grafts from the chin or hip using synthetic bone substitute materials to expand the bone.

Today, such interventions can be circumvented using modern biological techniques. A single minimally invasive treatment is often enough to be able to insert implants painlessly.

X-ray diagnostics

Digital X-ray

In our practice we only take digital x-rays. In this process, the X-rays are converted directly by sensors into digital signals, which are processed by the computer and displayed as an image on the monitor. These images can be examined and evaluated immediately. Highly precise images and, above all, reduced radiation exposure by up to 90% are the decisive advantages for the patient.

Digital volume tomography – DVT

The digital volume tomography procedure enables computer-aided three-dimensional representation and diagnosis of the structures of the mouth and jaw area.
We use these procedures for:
• Diagnostics for the preservation of diseased teeth
• Three-dimensional planning of minimally invasive procedures with the best predictability in implantology
• Finding root canals in endodontology
• Diagnosis of bone progression in periodontology
• Diagnosis of maxillary sinus diseases with dentogenic causes
• Diagnosis of the location of wisdom teeth or foreign bodies in relation to important anatomical structures such as nerves or maxillary sinuses.

Digital volume tomography uses state-of-the-art sensor technology and selective display of small areas to ensure significantly lower exposure to X-rays on the body than classic CT scans (computed tomography), with significantly better image quality.
